Greater things: Student Ministry

June 10, 2009

Guest Blogger: Alan Hood

Our student ministry over the past 6 months has grown not just numerically but also spiritually. We’ve doubled numerically (and our living room is getting pretty full!), but the amazing thing about our students is they don’t want to grow just so that they are a part of just a “big” youth group; they genuinely want to see Jesus made more famous in Spring Hill. Just recently our Student Ministry has been blessed by three individuals who unselfishly devote their time to our students. Each week Shivonne Hood, Sarah Bateman, and Dave Hall spend time with our Students showing them by their  lifestyle what it means to be men and women of God.

As the Student Ministry grows, I’m seeking God right now for direction for our future. Right now God is teaching me that he will not grow our students in number or in real spiritual growth unless I’m growing closer to him.

Alan, we are so proud of all that you are accomplishing with the youth at The Bridge. I once had a son in a youth group, a group that focused on the kinds of things you guys are giving attention to. He’s now our pastor. It will be so exciting to see how God uses the youth you are mentoring now.
